Character Foil

The character I wrote in a previous post was Don John. The character he is opposite to is Don Pedro. Don pedro is the opposite to him because he is nice and loving toward people. While Don john is a grouchy, evil man. Don John only wants one thing that is everyone is miserable. But don Pedro wants everyone happy. Don Pedro wants people to be  in love. While Don John wants broken hearts and shame.

The differences that they have contributes to the plot is that with out Don John there would  be no antagonist. He tries to destroy everything and  fabricate about Hero because Claudio likes her. So because Claudio is Don Pedro's man he wants to get hurt Claudio. Don Pedro is the guy who tries to fix things and get people to fall in love. I think without him Beatrice and benedick will have a harder time falling for one another. Without Don Pedro the plot would be not so interesting cause he did help Claudio with Hero. The quotes I  picked for Don Pedro was " He hath a good outward happiness" (act 2 scene 3 pg.28 line 13). A quote that describes Don John is "she has been to long a talk of the lady". (Act 3 scene 2 Pg 37 line 6)

Close Analysis of Text

The song that they ask Balthasar to sing means that men will always be unfaithful. That they will be in a relationship and still be with other women. Also it says that men will  always be cheaters. It's saying that women should turn their cheek and brush it under the rug. Also that women should be happy that they still have their man and that their opinion doesn't matter. Also that they should let the man go.

I agree but also disagree. I agree that women should let their men go if he is cheating. I also agree that men sometimes will deceive their girl in their life. That they will cheat and lie about it.But I disagree because men isn't always a deceiver. They stay faithful to the girl, it's people who stereotype them. The song reflects the action in the play that hero was the "deceiver". It also reflects that Beatrice and Benedick will fall in love.
I think Don Pedro wanted to get Benedick thinking about Beatrice. Also to make him think how he treats the women that he dates.

character analysis

The character I connect with is Don John. He's a bitter person and very melancholy. I relate to him by envying someone. We all envy a certain person and want nothing but to destroy them. but thats who we are we're just human. We all have envy and jealousy toward someone. A way he adds to the plot is trying to hurt Claudio because he's his brother , Don Pedros, best man So that means he wants to destroy him and become the leader.

A quote that describes him is " If I had a mouth, I would bite; if I had my liberty, I would do my liking."(ACT 1- SCENE 3 - PG 10). This quote describes him that he would not want to be in his brothers grace and that he wants to be his wants own person. Also that he is saying his brother does not own him. The traits he is are that he jealous, melancholy, and he's mischievous. Those describe him that he is always sad and want his bother's position and he will be secretive about it.
